Do we want more jobs here in the United States?
Former President Clinton and his team are speaking with businesses and international political leaders this week at the U.N. Global Warming summit in New York this week.
Clinton’s perspective is that other countries like the U.K. and Denmark have seen a dramatic increase in their employement market due to jobs that were created by the need to have safer emissions and regulations to reduce global warming. See the article “It’s global warming week in America”.Â
Clinton points out that our middle class job market has stayed stagnet since 2000, while others in the U.K. for example have been on the rise. So are we missing the ecology boat?
I do think that anything we do now to help save our natural resources and perserve the planet for future generations is good work. That we need to be forward thinking…we are a world leader and if we don’t start taking the initiative to force companies to stop having such HUGE footprints with carbon emissions etc…than no other country will do the same. Â
Both China and India are on warp speed in industrialization and manufacturing. These countries are growing so fast that they are not able to do things always the right way but just the fastest, easiest and cheapest way. Some foresight into what the next 20 years will bring can help the globe get things right now.Â
I want us to learn how we affect the planet - whether you believe in global warming or not…I have to believe you want your children and their children and so on to have a good healthy life where they can breath fresh air and swim in the oceans and lakes and have clean water to drink. There are things we should be doing today to ensure that they will have all of the wonderful things we have enjoyed in our lifetime. All research does point to the fact that we are consuming our natural resources at an extreme rate as well as polluting rivers like the Yangtze in China that may never recover from such devastation. Â
So recycle and do what you can every day to make sure this earth is still inhabitable in 100 years. Lead the way and others will follow. Our grandchildren deserve it!Â
