Global Business Perspectives

I entitled my blog Global Business Perspectives because I have always felt that my view is a "world" view and the lens with which I view life is global in nature.  But I was curious so I did some searching on the web for a "definition" of a global perspective.  I found this and thought it was a definition that fits with my views

"A demonstration of awareness of diverse beliefs, values and perspectives held by others, enabling informed judgments and actions."  However, I feel the more I know about the world – I realize that I only know the tip of the ice berg.  The more I explore this amazing world the more I want to know. 

While talking with global business executives around the world, I have found that a global perspective is essential for business success in today’s economy.  In addition, researching and thinking outside of your perspective is essential.  Unfortunately, many Americans carry an arrogance that they incorrectly place on other cultures.  Not everyone does business like us.  And that is a great thing. 

We can learn much and improve our businesses creating a hybrid of systems.  For example, the way the Japanese have improved manufacturing is teaching many companies how to streamline processes.  Just being open to new ideas may spur your company to the next level.  There are many different perspectives – it is not a black and white world.  There are many shades of gray…which shades can you learn from?
