Canada – More than just our neighbor

Canada Canada has always been an important trading partner with the U.S.but I never knew the hard facts/stats that backed up that statement.  Recently an article I read in Crain’s stressed the importance of new technology and infrastructure to facilitate trade with Canada which creates an economic boon to both countries. It was noted that 37 of the 50 U.S. states can name Canada as their No. 1 partner in trade and that 40 percent of all American goods exported to the world come from the 12-state Great Lakes region.   For the Detroit region – global business is in our very own backyard.  We cannot overlook how important this trading relationships is to both Canada and to the U.S.

With the weaker dollar today, this boon may turn more to the U.S. as Canadian’s are seeking deals.  This can only help our region.  Open the doors, borders, bridges, tunnels, and rivers to our neighbors.  Canada – I toast to you and our continuing friendship and trade.
