Going Global is Good for Business
Companies like Ford and 3M are bringing in the green with their international sales.
In an article from CNN, “the latest results and comments from Ford underscore the challenges the auto maker faces as it deals with continued sales weakness in its home market, where it has had to rely on cost cuts to generate improved financial numbers. The Ford results also provide the latest example of the growing importance of international operations for North American companies struggling with the effects of a downturn for the U.S. economy.”
In addition, the Wall Street Journal states, “the St. Paul, Minn., company, known for Scotch tape and Post-It notes, said last year’s divestiture added 57 cents a share to prior-year results. Net revenue in the latest quarter climbed 8.9%, with the weaker dollar contributing six percentage points to the growth.”
Many companies are seizing the global business opportunities that the weaker dollar is affording. Some might say that the stars are aligned to go global. Just be sure to do your research before you go.
