Global Business Event at Virchow Krause
Tonight I attended an event sponsored by Butzel Long, the French Chamber of Commerce and Virchow Krause on Global Tax and Immigration issues.
The offices of Virchow Krause are very nice and perfect for such an event.
There were about 50+ folks
The discussion of expatriate taxes when leaving here and inpatriots living abroad was very interesting. Did you know the French are changing their tax laws to be more welcoming to foreigners living there. In addition the U.K. is increasing the taxes for foreigners living there. Which actually, is causing some folks to threaten to pick up and leave – including their businesses.
In addition, there is a new I-9 form that was put into place in December of 2007, with a proposed new E-Verify system. This system is mandatory in some states to verify I-9 eligibility. Many folks are very weary though, saying that it has a high inaccuracy rate of 4%.
