Obama -the hope for Detroit, Michigan, United States and the World

PICT0067 I just got back from the Obama Rally at Joe Louis Arena and where I was looking forward to hearing Obama’s thoughts on globalization and international relations.

He spoke to almost 20,000 people about change and hope for the future for the possibilities for America, Michigan, and particularly Detroit’s economic troubles.

He talked about education, health care, jobs, the war and global warming.

His thoughts about turning the current automotive challenges into opportunities for a new green collar economy.  Turning stamping plants into Solar panel factories and wind mill production facilities.

Obama’s complete disagreement with the current foreign policy was very clear.  Specifically the war in Iraq.  The resounding cheers he received only showed how the audience agreed.

Since Al Gore was in attendance and stating his support for Obama there was a lot of talk about global warming and green house gases. Obama’s rhetoric about freeing the U.S. from its dependence on foreign oil was well received.

Obama’s use of social media has made such a significant impact on the youth vote.  At the rally the campaign marketed their mobile phone initiative.  By texting to 66266 with the word MI in it you can get information on Michigan events.  In addition, if you input your zip code when prompted - you can receive notice of events in your specific geographic area. Very impressive niche marketing.

Overall, Obama was inspiring and made the crowd feel like they are part history and more importantly that they have a voice in change.

Can I dare to hope?
